Disney Villainous
A 2-6 player hand management and “take that” type of game where each player (working as a Disney villain) races to reach their personal objective.

OVERVIEW
The Good
Beautiful artwork and villain minis
Very balanced game, despite variable player powers and objectives, as each villain works against their own “hero deck”
The Bad
Can be slow at high player counts, but tedious at low player counts
It can be difficult to get a sense of how close other players are to completing their objectives if you are not familiar with their decks

Disney Villainous is a very solid, enjoyable game. Mechanically, it offers a unique turn action system where players move their Villain mini to a location with the four actions they take that turn. However, half of these actions can be blocked by Hero cards played at the location. While it is simple to understand, it does offer deep strategy.
I also appreciate the self-balancing of villains (and all expansions) as each villain comes with their own unique hero deck that works against them and their specific objective. So when opponents act directly against you, they do so from your own hero deck, not theirs. In each of my plays, this kept the games close, making for an exciting end.
That said, at times the game can feel a bit tedious. In some cases, you are simply cycling through the cards in your deck looking for that one specific copy in the deck to move forward, or your are simply collecting specific tokens without doing much else. At two players, this is amplified, as the “take that” mechanism just acts to slow down each player every turn making the above objectives take even longer. However, at 3-4 players, this is improved by having multiple targets to attack.
Overall, I enjoy the time I spend playing Disney Villainous, and each game keeps me thinking a bit afterwards about how I could have played differently, making me want to play again right away. And with several available expansions, the replayability here is not lacking.
You wont be a villain if you show up to board game night with a copy of Disney Villainous.
