OVERVIEW
The Good
Easy to understand, difficult to master
Great gateway game that functions as an introduction to modern board games
Quick set-up and take-down
The Bad
Some view the strategy as too simplistic (at least with earlier iterations)
Can be hard to get deep into the theme, unless you keep your train conductor costume handy.

An amazing game that works as an intro into modern board gaming, with just enough oomph to keep you coming back to play again and again.
Ticket to Ride offers so much more that it seems at first glance. While you may feel you grasp the rules well after just a few rounds, after several games you'll find that you're still learning new strategies with every move.
The tension in these games, built by a 'hidden leader' mechanic is magnificent. While you can see the paths taken by each of your opponents, you won't know how much these paths are worth until the game ends. This leads to elegantly difficult decisions regarding whether to block a path that may help your opponents or work diligently to further your own.
And if you feel that the 'simple' strategy might not keep you entertained long enough, you should know there are currently over 25 different maps, expansions, etc. which can add new pieces, mechanics, and a whole new level of strategy to the games.
So what are you waiting for? Hop on board the Ticket to Ride fan train.
